Training for New Eucharistic Ministers

In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner.  Maybe God is calling you to this ministry!

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.

Requirements:

1. Fill out application (1 Page enclosed) and email it to [email protected] by March 6th.

2. Take Theology of Eucharistic ministry course (see below) by March 6th.  

Sign up for the Archdiocese of New York Liturgy Office’s online training for Eucharistic Ministers. Online Ministry Training | Archdiocese of New York (archny.org) . They will send you a link and then you can begin the course which lasts about 1 hour.  There is a short test at the end. 

It will give you a theological background for the Extraordinary Minister of Communion ministry.  Please send a copy of the certificate of completion by email to [email protected] before March 6th. 

3. Attend course on March 9th for Practical training.

4. Attend installation of New Eucharistic Ministers at a Mass after March 9th (TBD).
