Valerie Coffey
Valerie and Mike Coffey and their 2 daughters relocated to Madison NJ from the northern suburbs of Chicago in the summer of 2001 due to a job change for Mike. This new job would be located in Manhattan. We discovered Corpus Christi Parish while on a random drive in the spring of 2002 and have been members ever since. What seemed like such an inconsequential ride that day turned out to be a life changing event for our family as we had been seeking to find a new Church. We have been parishioners for 20 years and find great joy, enrichment, community, and comfort here. The opportunities to volunteer time and talent offer something for a wide range of personal interests. I have participated in many.
By training, I earned a BSN in Nursing from the University of Illinois. It was at the Medical Center Campus where Mike and I met and we have been married 42 years. Like most new grads upon graduation, my nursing career began in a hospital. When our family grew in size, the lifestyle of hospital nursing was in conflict with our family’s needs. Nursing is a very versatile profession so ambulatory care was where I spent most of my career. Pediatrics was my primary focus. I am now retired and am Grandma to 4 little ones.
This is an exciting time for Corpus Christi parish. I look forward to working with fellow Council members and all of you.

Brian Duemling and his wife Joanne moved to Chatham Township in 2001 and joined Corpus Christi Parish, where they have volunteered over the years. Brian taught in the Middle School religious education program for 12 years and then served as Middle School Religious Education Coordinator for 5 years. He also participated as a chaperone in the Habitat for Humanity and Bridges programs. Their children, Courtney and Caroline, were in the Corpus Christi religious education program and they both graduated from the Chatham Public School system. More recently, Brian serves as a Eucharist Minister and continues to participate actively at the annual Corpus Christi Carnival.

Cristin McKenna
Cristin McKenna is grateful to be offered the opportunity to serve on the parish council. She and her husband, Douglas Bennett, and their two daughters appreciate being members of the Corpus Christi community. Her two daughters, Christianna and Teresa, are in the Teen Handbell Choir which is a source of great joy in sharing beautiful music with the parish. Cristin also serves on the Family Ministry Committee and was a catechist for several years when her children were younger.
Cristin grew up in St Stephen’s parish in Kearny, NJ and was educated at Catholic grammar school, high school, and college (St. Stephen’s, Queen of Peace, and Manhattan College). In going through the RCIA process with her husband, who converted prior to their wedding, and in teaching the children’s curriculum at Corpus Christi she realized her Catholic education had not grown much since college. A deeper understanding of both Catholicism and the relationship with God of both Catholics and non-Catholics is an ongoing goal. As parish council member she looks forward to hearing from fellow parishioners how Jesus informs their daily words, thoughts and actions.
After college Cristin completed a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from New Jersey Institute of Technology. She was unsuccessful in her goal of cleaning up all of New Jersey and after a few years decided medical school was likely easier than this goal. Therefore, she went to Rutgers Medical School and completed her M.D. followed by residency also at Rutgers in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She partners with patients who have neurological and musculoskeletal conditions to improve their function and ability to engage in activities they deem important. Her passion for health at all ages of life informs both her work with adult patients in her professional life and her work with the young girls and women who she coaches in soccer.

Alexandra is currently volunteering as a Catechist, teaching 4th Grade for our elementary school Faith Formation Program. She is also serving as a new lector at our Parish.
Alexandra enjoys theater and has performed in a number of plays, including performances and workshops at the Chatham Playhouse. In addition to acting, she has participated in Mock Trial competitions, is an avid reader, and has become a talented crochet artist.
