Many thanks to all Corpus Christi Parishioners who have supported us! We have been living in Poland for almost three months. We were forced to leave our native country Ukraine due to Russian aggression. On behalf of all my family members, I would like to express my gratitude for your tremendous support and sent our love to everyone who has helped us in this difficult time. I would like to say thank you to the Polish family, who have given us shelter, food, and assistance in adapting and beginning our life in Poland. Thanks to them we got jobs, new perspectives, and get to know you, Corpus Christi Community with all the generous people that made a difference in our lives by providing financial assistance.
We are slowly arranging our life in Poland. It is difficult, but we work hard and try to stay positive. Since the beginning of May, my mother Olena has been working for a large company located close to the place we live. She slowly learns Polish and is satisfied with her new job position and job conditions. My younger brother Ostap goes to a Polish school, but to the Ukrainian class, and is successful there. His teacher offered to transfer him to a regular Polish class since he already understands the Polish language quite well. When it comes to me, I continue my online education at the Kharkiv Medical University, at the Faculty of Dentistry. My Polish is pretty good so I will be able to work in Poland without any problems. I’m just waiting for my graduation which will allow me to work as a dental assistant.
Since May we begin to live in a rented apartment close to our work. Our Polish family helped us to make all arrangements, get a Social Security number, and with many other things that are required to live in a different country. We plan to transfer Ostap to a closer school and to the Polish class. Your financial support helped us in his rehabilitation. He has problems walking and we have had a few consultations with a pediatric neurologist and an orthopedist to resolve this issue. Ostap’s treatment has become accessible thanks to your assistance. We are happy to begin our life in Poland. Thanks to you we were able to make a deposit for our rented apartment, and purchase many items, such as pots and pans, utensils, towels, bedsheets, and many others. It is comforting to know that there are so many good people thinking of us. Our dad is still fighting in Ukraine and tells us about the current situation in our country. We are looking forward to the end of this terrible war, as we miss and long to see our loved ones.
